Welcome !

I would like to welcome you to our Cub Scout Pack 167's Web Site. As you can see there is a tremendous amount of information provided so please use this site as your first stop in trying to answer questions about our Pack. Pack 167 was founded in 1956 and we are currently the largest Pack in the Sycamore District. Right now we have about 90 Cub Scouts from Lake in the Hills and Huntley. Due to our growth over the years, we have split into 2 sister Packs - #267 (Square Barn Rd and Leggee Campuses) and #467 (Square Barn Rd Campus). Most boys in our pack attend school at the Reed Rd Campus, but any boy can join a pack regardless of their school's location. All boys interested in scouting can start as early as the end of their kindergarten year all the way through 5th grade, so we welcome all newcomers! Please click on our "New Parent Information" tab for more information about Cub Scouts and how to get registered.

Cub Scout Camping and Earning Rank

Posted by mdavis on Mar 5 2016 - 8:00am

Why is camping in Cub Scouts important to a Scout?

  • Camping takes him on exciting adventures into the natural world.
  • He'll learn to live with others in the out-of-doors.
  • He'll learn to be a good citizen of the outdoors.
  • Camping is fun, and it's good for his mind, body, and spirit.
  • It helps him learn to rely on himself—on his own skills and knowledge.
  • When he goes camping as a Cub Scout, he gets skills he will learn and use more, later, as a Boy Scout.

Every rank now requiries that a Scout attends a Pack campout and or activly plan and participate in a Pack campfire to earn rank.  We are very lucky that our Pack has the opportunity to camp anywhere between 7 and 10 time a year!  The rank adventures are expected to be earned as written.
